Minnesota Safe Routes to School (SRTS) is a statewide effort to make it safe, convenient, and fun for all youth to walk, bike, and roll to school and in daily life. Walking or biking to, from, and during school is an easy way for students to get exercise, stay healthy, and arrive at school ready to learn. The 6 E’s provide the foundation for the Safe Routes to School Program. The Safe Routes to School Plan for your community will include a balanced approach – from recommendations for physical engineering improvements on the ground – to in class activities and instruction to build skills and encourage walking and biking.
2025 Winter Walk to School Day - February 5, 2025 Congratulations to HVED's Wendy Haake Nominated for Educator of the Year 2024-2025 by BikeMN Educator of the Year (Individual): Bryan Kallevig Educator of the Year (School or Organization): Congdon Park Elementary About the Awards Minnesota is one of the most bicycle-friendly states in the country. Even though we have the hard work of hundreds of individuals and organizations to thank for this, each year BikeMN strives to recognize a few particular people who have gone the extra mile to make Minnesota a place where bicycling is easy, safe, and fun for everyone. BikeMN and other MBW&RA partners are striving to engage and empower advocates within both urban and rural communities with health, racial, socioeconomic, and safety disparities via these awards. Youth, women, people with disabilities, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, immigrants and people of color are encouraged to nominate themselves or individuals/organizations that make Minnesota a better place to bike, walk and roll. All are welcome. Minnesota Walk! Bike!
